The Mountain Brook City Council will begin a busy night of discussion Monday, March 14 with a pre-meeting at 6 p.m. The council will then discuss a variety of topics, some which may be added to the formal consent agenda.
During its pre-meeting, the council will hear details on contracts with Sain Associates presented by City Manager Sam Gaston for the roundabout project, Phase 9 sidewalks and Phase 5b Sidewalks.
City Attorney Whit Colvin will discuss a Public Assembly ordinance and permit amendments.
Public Works Director Ronnie Vaughn will present the paving list for FY-2016.
The council will also discuss Ethernet and Internet facilities upgrades at Fire Station #2 before entering into an executive session.
The council will reconvene at 7 p.m. to vote on items added to the consent agenda and consider resolutions including whether to allow the Crestline Piggly Wiggly to sell beer and alcohol—for off-premise use only and the demolition of a house at 2324 Cahaba Road. The council will also discuss various business with Jefferson County regarding storm debris removal and a hazard mitigation plan.
The council will also consider a resolution expressing its opposition to HB375 and companion SB335 which prohibit a governing body of a municipality from entering into a contract with a private auditing or collecting firm. The resolution states that “such legislation will most likely adversely affect all Alabama cities’ ability to effectively and efficiently administer its tax, license, and permit ordinances and regulations.”
The council will meet at 56 Church Street in room A106 and then the council chambers, room A108.
