Mountain Brook police officers responded to a call about a party on Dexter Avenue last weekend and found multiple underage individuals drinking, according to the July 14 community update.
Police responded to the call on Friday, July 8 and found minors drinking alcohol at a home in the 500 block of Dexter Avenue, according to the update, and the adult homeowners were also present at the house.
Police also reported multiple instances of identity theft in the update, including a victim whose debit card number was used to make a purchase in Utah and used in an attempted purchase in Arkansas. Another victim reported between Jan. 1 and July 13, an unauthorized loan was taken out in his name. A third victim reported his business debit card was used at the Pelham and Alabaster Walmarts to make unauthorized purchases.
Other reports in the update included:
- A hit and run on July 7. The victim reported a white woman in her 60s with short grey hair reportedly hit the victim’s car and drove away. The woman was driving a small black car, possibly a Honda, and the incident occurred in the 2800 block of Cahaba Village Plaza, according to the report.
- A car break-in on July 7. An unlocked car in the 100 block of Mountain Brook Park was entered and a handgun and other items were reportedly taken. The incident occurred between 6:30 and 7:45 a.m.
- A burglary on July 9. A known individual reportedly forced entry into a home on Montevallo Road in an attempt to steal a gun. Officer arrived at the residence and placed the individual under arrest, according to the report.
- An instance of criminal mischief last weekend. Between July 8 and 11, columns and a wrought iron fence on Dolly Ridge Road were reportedly damaged.
- An instance of obstructing justice. On July 11, officers pulled a driver over in the 2700 block of U.S. 280. The driver reportedly gave officers a false name in order to avoid being arrested for an outstanding felony warrant.
