Mountain Brook police reported three car break-ins in this week’s community update. All of the victims’ cars were unlocked, and items that were taken included sunglasses, a knife, a handgun, drugs and a laser level.
The thefts occurred overnight on Dec. 23, with two cars on Williamsburg Circle and one on Cromwell Drive.
Police report a robbery occurred in the 2800 block of Fairway Drive on Dec. 30. Around 1:30 a.m., four to five black males committed a robbery and stole a vehicle, laptop and credit cards.
Several victims also reported instances of identity theft, according to the community update.
Between Nov. 11 and Dec. 28, someone in Wichita, Kansas attempted to take out a payday loan using one victim’s identity. The victim lives off of Watkins Road. Another resident reported someone used her banking account between Dec. 11 and Dec. 30 to pay their Sprint bill.
Between Dec. 18 and Dec. 29, unauthorized withdrawals were made from another victim’s checking account.
Another victim reported someone cashed checks belonging to them between Dec. 20 and Dec. 23. The incident occurred in the 3500 block of Brookwood Road.
A burglary was reported in the 100 block of Peachtree Circle. The home was broken into on Dec. 24, but police report nothing is known to be missing. Between Dec. 18 and Dec. 28, a window and door were damaged when someone tried to enter a house on Heathermoor Road. Police report the incident was an attempted burglary.
One individual was the victim of fraud after sending money to rent a house. The house was fraudulently listed on Craigslist, police said.
