For pharmacist Dr. Laura Leigh Scoggins, Ritch’s Pharmacy is a special place.
Laura Leigh worked at Ritch's Pharmacy in Mountain Brook Village while attending Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy, returning after graduation when Keith Conner retired.
“I cannot think of being anywhere else — this is home,” Laura Leigh said.
Laura Leigh and her team provide customers with specialized services that are customized to meet their needs. This includes easy prescription packaging that gives people the independence they need to safely and accurately manage their own medication therapy.
“Managing your prescriptions and taking your medications properly do not have to be monumental tasks,” Laura Leigh said. “We have the capability with multimed packaging to make your life easier, healthier and safer.”
Throughout her time working as the pharmacist at Ritch’s Pharmacy, Laura Leigh has learned a lot about being a good listener and how it can make a difference in how a person feels and heals.
“We find that so much of our business is about having personal conversations with the patient, trying to meet their needs.” Laura Leigh said. “That requires listening and understanding their needs.”
In addition to prescription packaging services, Laura Leigh and the team of pharmacists at Ritch's work diligently to provide a comprehensive immunization program. Not only do they serve the people of Mountain Brook, but they also take their services into the business community and to areas that are underserved.
“We take immunization clinics beyond our four walls to reach more people and provide immunizations to those who may be less fortunate,” Laura Leigh said.
The pharmacy team is staying current with trends in the COVID-19 pandemic and continuing their education on the vaccine that is to be released and how best to meet distribution and immunization goals.
