At Gunn Dermatology, Dr. Holly Gunn and her staff offer full-body dermatological and cosmetic care at two locations in Crestline Village and Lane Parke. They provide any service, treatment or technology a patient could ever need, and they customize treatments to each patient.
“We’re a full-spectrum, one-stop dermatology practice,” says Clinical Director Rachel Stroupe.
Gunn Dermatology is also known as the preeminent place in Birmingham for cosmetic care.
However, Dr. Gunn says her practice is just as strong on the medical side, especially since the arrival in 2025 of Dr. James Libecco, a dermatologist and researcher with more than 20 years of experience who worked previously at the Cleveland Clinic.
“We’re both board-certified dermatologists, and we’re the best at medical treatment, too,” Dr. Gunn says.
She’s been very impressed by Dr. Libecco’s abilities.
“When I first heard him speak on hair loss and autoimmune diseases, it was apparent he’s smarter than most dermatologists, and he’s so passionate,” she says. “He also goes beyond passion and has a mind to see and understand the skin.”
She enjoys watching Dr. Libecco in the clinic, where he’s seeing more and more patients.
“Even though he has a high-level mindset, he’s able to educate and explain things to patients really well,” Dr. Gunn says.
Gunn Dermatology also has great technology and takes pride in staying on the cutting edge. “We have everything that a good, innovative dermatology practice needs,” Dr. Gunn says.
They were one of the first practices to perfect the use of Ellacor, a non-surgical, micro-coring technology that does body treatments. “We’re getting amazing, surgical-like results,” Dr. Gunn says.
Gunn Dermatology also uses the advanced Tetra PRO CO2 ablative laser for skin resurfacing, the Vivace Ultra device to tighten, tone or contour any area of the body and the EMSCULPT body device.
On the medical side, Dr. Gunn offers an exciting new ultrasound-guided radiation treatment to remove some skin cancers without the use of Mohs surgery. “We were one of the first practices in Birmingham to use it,” Dr. Gunn says.
However, Gunn Dermatology remains focused on the patient, not just technology. “We focus on maximizing great care and getting results,” Dr. Gunn says. “We focus on our expertise and not trends, and we’re the real deal.”
Some other practices in Birmingham have mimicked Gunn Dermatology’s marketing and approach in recent years, but they can’t beat the original, she says.
“They can copy our technology or our social media, but our expertise, judgement and patient relationships can’t be copied.”
