Wood rot is very common in the southeastern U.S., more so than in most other U.S. regions. High humidity, heavy rainfall, and warmer temps combine to make a near-perfect combination for wood rot.
If you’re dealing with a specific wood rot issue (wood frame windows, wooden columns and doors) expensive replacement, and disruptive renovation, is not the only solution.
Wood rot can often be permanently repaired by Preservan Birmingham, for a fraction of the price of full replacement, which removes damaged wood, treats the area to stop further deterioration and rebuilds the original shape using epoxy resins.
“In many cases, damaged wood can be permanently repaired without replacing original elements,” says owner Hillary Edwards.
One of Preservan’s happy customers, Tyler, “had a fantastic experience” with the company and says “it’s a great value to repair rather than replace.”
Katherine had a damaged window and was told by other vendors she would have to order a brand-new window, which could take months and cost $4,000. “Preservan fixed it in two days for a fraction of the replacement cost,” Katherine says. “They did an amazing job.”
Preservan repaired five window sills for Bernard, who was “truly happy and satisfied” and gave the company “a 5-star rating.”
“This isn’t a cosmetic patch,” Edwards says. “When epoxy is installed correctly, the process restores strength and, in many cases, the repaired wood is stronger than it was originally.”
FASTER, LESS DISRUPTIVE
Most Preservan projects are completed in two to three days, without demolition, long construction timelines or long waits for materials. “Our work is focused and efficient,” Edwards says.
Preservan can help customers with all sorts of repairs, as well. For example, Preservan fixed two rotting cedar posts that were holding up Eska’s back porch. “The cost was less than half the quote I received for replacement,” Eska says. “We couldn’t have asked for a more satisfying experience.”
Toya in Hoover had Preservan repair rot on her wood door and garage door. The price was “exponentially lower than a full door replacement” and the job was completed “very fast,” Toya says.
LOCAL ROOTS, SUSTAINABLE FOCUS
A Birmingham resident since 2019, Edwards opened Preservan Birmingham in 2024.
“We want homeowners to understand their options and preserve their homes whenever possible,” Edwards says. Repairing wood instead of replacing it also reduces the construction waste that goes to the landfill.
“By repairing what’s there, we preserve materials and reduce waste,” Edwards says.
GREAT STAFF
Customers have been very pleased by Hillary and her highly trained techs. “Hillary’s team was so professional in their process,” Bernard says. “I’m a very happy homeowner.”
“Hillary is a gem,” Toya says.
