Mountain Brook police reported five property thefts in this week’s community update.
Three businesses reported thefts, and two of those thefts involved stolen meat. On Feb. 6, a business in the 3100 block of Cahaba Village Plaza reported a pork tenderloin was shoplifted. Also on Feb. 6, a business in the 3800 block of River Run Drive reported two males shoplifted an unknown quantity of meat.
On Feb. 10, a woman was arrested for shoplifting nearly $1,000 worth of merchandise from a business in the 600 block of Brookwood Village.
One theft reportedly occurred between Dec. 9 and Dec. 16 last year. During that time, a repairman was paid up front for work and never returned to do the work, according to police.
The fifth theft was reported on Feb. 1 when a resident in the 3800 block of Valley Head Road reported his vehicle’s license plate had been stolen.
Police also reported two individuals were charged in a hit and run/ robbery from Feb. 3.
Police officers from Irondale were pursuing a vehicle which reportedly crashed into a car on Shiloh Drive near Groover Drive, resulting in injuries to the occupant of the other vehicle. The suspects fled on foot, and police report a victim in the 4100 block of Sharpsburg Drive was robbed of his vehicle shortly after.
The stolen vehicle was recovered, and Tarius Keon Richardson and Paul Hinkle have been charged. Richardson was charged with third degree robbery and second degree burglary, and his bond was set at $150,000. Police report Hinkle was driving the car involved in the Shiloh Drive accident. Hinkle was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. His bond was set at $12,000.
Other reported crime included:
A counterfeit $100 bill was used during a purchase in the 2800 block of Cahaba Village Plaza.
A garage was broken into and camping gear and tools were stolen in the 3000 block of Southwood Road between Feb. 3 and Feb. 9.
A hit and run was reported when a tan Ford F-150 reportedly struck a black Hyundai Sonata and fled the scene on Feb. 10 around 12:30 p.m. The incident occurred on U.S. 280 E at Office Park Drive.
