The Mountain Brook City Council on Monday, Aug. 24, is scheduled to discuss a proposal to give $65,000 to the Friends of Jemison Park so the group can make repairs to the park and its trails caused by a water main break.
The council also is set to consider:
- An application for a grant to help build a roundabout at the convergence of Memory Lane, Memory Court and Country Club Road — a spot that serves as a gateway entrance to Crestline Village
- A proposal to participate in an Alabama League of Municipalities program that helps cities recover unpaid parking tickets from people’s state tax refunds
- A proposal to hire Skipper Consulting to conduct a traffic study to analyze traffic patterns on Round Forest Drive and determine if the street’s connection to Irondale should be blocked or some other traffic improvements measures are needed
- An appointment of Adam Millhouse to the Mountain Brook Board of Landscape Design
- Reappointments of Trent Wright and Meredith Waldrop to the Mountain Brook Parks and Recreation Board
- A contract renewal with EMS-MC as the billing company for the Fire Department’s ambulance transports
- A proposal to hire The Prewitt Group to provide insurance for the city at an annual premium cost of $692,193. Coverage areas would include general liability, employee benefits liability, property, auto physical damage, auto liability, inland marine, public entity management liability, public entity employment practices liability, law enforcement liability, crime, cyber and umbrella.
- A proposal to hire Carr, Riggs & Ingram to perform the city’s fiscal 2026 audit for $68,000
- A proposal to allow Municipal Judge K.C. Hairston to appoint a special judge when he needs to recuse himself from cases
The City Council has a work session scheduled for 6:15 p.m. and an action meeting at 7 p.m. Both meetings are at Mountain Brook City Hall at 56 Church St. and are open to the public.

The City Council also plans to have a meeting to discuss the city’s 2027 budget at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27. That meeting is blocked to last until 12:30 p.m. and also is City Hall and open to the public. The new fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
