In the April 28 community update, Mountain Brook police reported two narcotics charges, a marijuana charge and a weapons charge.
On April 23, a driver reportedly pointed a handgun at another drive on U.S. 280 at Green Valley Road. The individual with a gun was located by Mountain Brook police officers and arrested on multiple outstanding warrants and charged with possession of marijuana and not having a pistol permit, according to police. There is also a charge of menacing pending against the individual.
There were also two reports of narcotics in the community update.
An individual was arrested for DUI on Montrose Road at Old Leeds Road and found in possession of controlled substances, according to the community report. The other report came from an employee who found narcotics and paraphernalia in the 2600 block of Lane Park Road, according to police.
On April 21, an individual with outstanding felony warrants was stopped during a checkpoint in the 3200 block of Montevallo Road. The individual was also in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Several property thefts were reported in the community update. Two instances of shoplifting were reported in Brookwood Village, including sunglasses that were reportedly taken on April 22 and multiple items of clothing that were reportedly taken on April 23.
Other property thefts included a lawnmower that was taken from a front yard in the 3300 block of Overton Road on April 23 and a paint sprayer that was stolen from a job site in the 3100 block of Pine Ridge Road on April 22 or 23.
A burglary was reported in the 3000 block of Brookwood Road. On April 21, the back door of a residence was reportedly pried open and a safe was stolen, according to police.
A hit and run was reported April 21 on U.S. 280 near Rocky Ridge Road. A Buick Lacrosse reportedly crossed over lanes, struck a Nissan Versa and fled. A witness followed the suspect vehicle and got a tag and suspect description, according to police.
On April 15, an employee in the 50 block of Church Street reported another employee threatened them.
Also in the community update, police alerted community members to a new Federal Trade Commission website. The website, identitytheft.gov, was created to help victims of identity theft with recovery and restoration and provides tips on preventing identity theft.
