Another victim has reported their wallet was stolen while working. A clerk from a store in the 2400 block of Canterbury Road reported that on July 1, two women entered the store and stole the wallet, according to the Sept. 1 community update.
Police report the two women are likely the same pair that did the same thing in multiple stores.
“This is a travelling group which comes through and then leaves the state,” the update said. “They hit Hoover in 2015. They have not been identified.”
Several other property thefts were also included in the community update.
On Aug. 2, a victim reportedly had a check stolen from his residence. The check was later forged and then cashed.
On Aug. 27, several offenders reportedly shoplifted meat from a store in Cahaba Village Plaza.
Between Aug. 28 and 29, a license plate was stolen from a car on Old Brook Trace, according to the update. A victim reported jewelry was stolen from his residence on Aug. 31.
Police also reported a burglary/ property theft from Aug. 28. A house under construction was reportedly entered on that day, and tools were stolen.
Three instances of identity theft were also reported in the update. Between July 10 and 12, a debit card was reportedly used to make multiple unauthorized purchases at local stores. Between Aug. 25 and 26, another victim reported their debit card was used to make multiple online purchases. The third report of identity theft was from a victim who reported on Aug. 28, he received a purchase confirmation from Ebay. The victim contacted Ebay, which was able to cancel the order.
Other crimes reported included three hit and runs. Between Aug. 25 and 26, a car struck a brick column on E. Briarcliff Road and left the scene. On Aug. 26, a car was hit from behind on U.S. 280 at Office Park, according to the update, and the at-fault vehicle fled and attempted to hide behind Regions Bank. A third hit and run was reported on Aug. 29. A parked vehicle on Cahaba Road was hit by a Camry which then left the scene, according to the report.
Police also reported a house party on Bethune Drive. The party reportedly occurred on Aug. 27, and multiple underage individuals were found drinking alcoholic beverages while the homeowner was away.
Other reports included:
- Possession of a forged instrument. Between Aug. 25 and 26, someone attempted to cash a forged check. Police reported someone attempted to deposit another forged check in New York.
- One victim reported a coworker harassed them over text message between Aug. 22 and 24.
- During an Aug. 31 traffic stop on U.S. 280 at Pumphouse Road, police found the driver’s license was suspended. While officers were conducting an inventory of the vehicle, narcotics were reportedly found in the vehicle.
