Following posting photos of a theft suspect on their Facebook page, the Mountain Brook police department was able to identify and bring charges against Christopher Michael Saulter, 26.
Mountain Brook police have charged a 26-year-old man with two counts of theft of property in the second degree.
Following a May 12 post on the police department’s Facebook page, Christopher Michael Saulter was identified. The posts included photos of Saulter standing near a table of men’s dress shirts. The thefts occurred on April 26 and May 3 at the Macy’s in Brookwood Village, according to the Mountain Brook Police Department Facebook page.
“Suspect has been identified through this post. Charges are pending,” the police department said in a comment on the original post. “Thank you for all assistance in this case.”
Lt. Jay Williams of Mountain Brook police said social media is a useful tool to identify suspects across the country.
Saulter is in jail on other charges, but Mountain Brook police have obtained two warrants for him, Williams said.
