Multiple thefts, including two from Mountain Brook homes, were reported in the Oct. 27 Mountain Brook Police Department community update.
Police reported Thursday that a pressure washer was stolen off a back porch in the 300 block of Mountain Avenue between Oct. 20 and 22. At a home in the 4200 block of Sharpsburg Drive, a leaf blower was reportedly stolen on Oct. 19. That home was being remodeled at the time of the theft, according to police.
Other thefts included a license plate that was stolen off a car on Oct. 21 and an instance of shoplifting on Oct. 20 and 21. On both days, a black woman reportedly stole multiple Yeti products from a store in the 200 block of Country Club Park.
Police also reported two burglaries in the update. Multiple power and hand tools were reported stolen from a home on Cahaba River Road, and the back door of a residence on Overton Road was kicked in. Nothing was taken from the Overton home, but the homeowner reported seeing a small, dark grey SUV leaving her driveway when she got home.
An instance of identity theft was also reported after a victim’s name was used to open a credit card account and to take out a loan. A second credit card account was reportedly attempted, but it was denied.
An individual was pulled over on Oct. 20, and the passenger of the car reportedly gave police her sister’s identity in order to avoid being arrested on five outstanding warrants. This was categorized as obstruction of justice.
A driver was also arrested following a traffic stop when during an impound of the vehicle, police found narcotics, according to the update.
Police also reported a hit and run on U.S. 280 by Wendys as well as the recovering property which had been stolen in September.
