Mountain Brook police have obtained warrants in connection to four car break-ins which reportedly occurred on Sept. 15.
Police reported in the Sept. 22 community update that four unlocked vehicles were entered, including one in the 4600 block of Pine Mountain Road, two in the 4600 block of Battery Lane and one in the 4600 block of Round Forest Circle. A pistol, purse and checkbook were reported stolen.
Warrants were signed on the reported offender, and police say more warrants may be forthcoming.
During the same time period as the car break-ins, according to police, a Pine Mountain Road resident reported seeing a white man on her front porch. She saw the man via security footage, according to the update, and told police he was looking into her windows.
Officers responded following her call and found a suspicious vehicle nearby, later identifying the owner of that vehicle as the suspect, according to police.
“In the meantime, the suspect had returned to his vehicle and left,” the update said. “The vehicle was later spotted but fled from officers.”
Another block of car break-ins was also reported off of Royal Oak Circle and Brook Hollow Lane. Three unlocked cars were reportedly entered on Royal Oak Circle, with nothing reported stolen, and a fourth unlocked car was reportedly entered on Brook Hollow Lane. From the fourth vehicle, $9 in change was reported stolen.
Police also reported a car break-in on Fair Oaks Drive during which a wallet was stolen, one on Foxhall Road in which change an a pistol were reportedly stolen and one at Brookwood Village in which clothes were stolen from the trunk of the car. All three cars were unlocked, according to the report.
Multiple thefts were also reported in the community update. Police report on Sept. 15, a black male shoplifted two Yeti hoppers from Cahaba Village Plaza. Another instance of shoplifting reportedly took place on Sept. 19, when an individual reportedly took items while hopping with his mother at Brookwood Village. Other reported thefts included a check that was stolen, forged and cashed between Aug. 1 and Sept. 15, a known offender reportedly stealing money from a victim’s purse in June and an instance in which the drive-thru register at a business came up $200 short after an employee was asked to leave work.
Police report an individual was also arrested on an outstanding warrant after that individual made a small purchase in a store at Brookwood Village, “confused the clerk and stole $45.” A patrol officer located the reported offender and arrested them.
Other crimes in the update included:
- Two instances of forgery. On Sept. 16, an individual reportedly attempted to cash a forged check in the 2400 block of Canterbury Road. The same date, an individual attempted to cash a forged check in the 800 block of Shades Creek Parkway. In both incidents, officers responded and arrested the offender.
- Two hit and runs from Sept. 19.
- Two reports of harassment. On Sept. 19, a known individual reportedly hit and kicked two other people. On Sept. 20, an employee at a business on Lane Park Road reportedly shoved and punched another employee.
- A 2013 Toyota Highlander was reportedly stolen from Royal Oak Circle on Sept. 17. The keys to the vehicle were inside of the Highlander, and it was later recovered in the McCalla area.
- A glass pane on a basement door was reportedly broken between Sept. 14 and 16. No entry was made, and the incident was categorized as criminal mischief.
- Officers pulled over a vehicle near Euclid Avenue and Church Street on Sept. 16. During the stop, they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the report.
