Opioid Crisis in Birmingham

Any mayor is naive if he does not think there is a drug problem in his city. It is rampant in ALL cities. From family experience, getting help is deterred due to the overwhelming cost of healthcare. Period. Counselors are expensive, treatment centers are expensive, recovery centers are expensive, drugs to help recovery are expensive, and the lawyers to help navigate any legal issues due to the issue are expensive. The average person cannot afford treatment, therefore the situation continues to spiral out of control until death or jail. Until this country makes it easy and free to get help, it will not happen. Thank you, deeply affected Birminghamian
