Dwarf Nigerian Goats Birmingham Zoo
Zoo guests can interact up-close with the dwarf Nigerian goats in the Corral at the Birmingham Zoo on April 11.
In recognition of Father’s Day, the Birmingham Zoo will offer free admission to all fathers with the purchase of a full-price child’s admission ticket.
For an additional cost, all guests are invited to explore the zoo’s newest exhibit, Dino Discovery, feed the lorikeets in the Schaeffer Eye Center Lorikeet Aviary, ride the Wild Slide or soar through the treetops on the Jane H. Brock Soaring Safari Zipline Adventure, as well as take part in the Kiwanis Giraffe Encounter, ride the train and the carousel.
The zoo’s seasonal shows, which began operating daily in May, include the Red Diamond Sea Lion Splash Show. This year, the show is themed “Zoo Olympics” and will provide a chance to learn more about the animals, while incorporating ways to help the wildlife here in Birmingham.
Guests are invited to experience the Schaeffer Eye Center Lorikeet Aviary and feed the lorikeets up-close. Schaeffer Eye Center Wildlife Shows, another guest favorite, are exciting and educational narrated presentations of a variety of animals trained to exhibit their natural behaviors.
For the next few months, the Birmingham Zoo will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for extended summer hours on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Extended summer hours for Tuesdays and Fridays will end August 2. Extended summer hours for Saturdays and Sundays will end September 4.
