Men from around the Birmingham area are wearing pink this month, including eight representing Mountain Brook.
As part of the “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign, these men will wear pink to promote breast cancer awareness, education and early detection while raising money for the cause. This is the second year for the American Cancer Society’s awareness event, during which the men will raise a minimum of $2,500. The individual who raises the most will be declared the Real man of the year for 2016.
A total of 24 Birmingham Area men are participating in this year’s event. Participants representing Mountain Brook include:
- Bob Baker, owner of Hinkle Roofing
- Bezshan Dolatabadi, owner of B. Prince — formerly Betsy Prince — which is set to open in Lane Parke
- Lee Edwards, owner of Edwards Chevrolet in Birmingham
- Bernard Frei, founder and CEO of 365 Inc.
- Will Haver, owner of Otey’s and Taco Mama
- Thomas Hoffman, general manager of the Grand Bohemian Hotel
- Jason Jack of Plastic Surgery Specialists
- Wayne Trucks, Mountain Brook resident and principal at Chelsea High School
Men participating in the campaign will raise money throughout the month of October. Links to each of their fundraising pages can be found here.
