The Mountain Brook City Schools Foundation is beginning the 2026-2027 school year with new board leadership, a $723,198.08 grant for Mountain Brook Schools and the return of its annual Give180 fundraising campaign.
The foundation's Board of Directors welcomed four new members: Greg McElroy, Camper O'Neal, Amanda Sokol and Ann Bailey White. O'Neal is a 2000 graduate of Mountain Brook High School, while White graduated in 1999.
Several current board members also are moving into new leadership positions. Caroline Little and Mary Catherine Pritchett, both members of the Mountain Brook High School Class of 1997, will serve as development chairs. Thames Schoenvogel, a 1996 graduate, will serve as Programs and Needs Chair, while Rhonda Hennessy will serve as treasurer.
The foundation also approved a grant of more than $723,000 to support Mountain Brook Schools during the new academic year.
Of that amount, $227,140 will support professional development, including the district's Engage Learning Conference and stipends for teachers participating in summer learning studies. The foundation said its investment in continuing education is intended to help the school system recruit and retain teachers.
Other portions of the grant will provide funding for the Math Lab at Mountain Brook High School and math coaches at each of the district's elementary schools.
As students return to classrooms, the foundation also is launching its annual Give180 Campaign, which encourages families to donate at least $1 for each of a student's 180 days of learning. The campaign's goal is participation from every Mountain Brook Schools family.
The Mountain Brook City Schools Foundation raises money to support academic improvements throughout the school system, with funds raised becoming part of a permanent endowment.
