Mountain Brook and Vestavia Hills’ PTO Councils will host a legislative forum to discuss education issues with state leaders on Thursday, Nov. 19.
This will be the 10th annual forum, which rotates yearly between the cities. Mountain Brook will host this year’s event at the Board of Education building, 32 Vine Street, from 8:30-10:30 a.m.
Among those scheduled to attend is Sen. Slade Blackwell, Sen. Jabo Waggoner, Rep. David Faulkner and Rep. Jack Williams. Superintendents Dicky Barlow of Mountain Brook and Sheila Phillips of Vestavia Hills will also be in attendance.
During last year’s forum, Sen. Jabo Waggoner, Rep. Jim Carns, Rep. Paul DeMarco and Rep. Jack Williams responded to questions from school representatives. School superintendents Dicky Barlow of Mountain Brook and Jamie Blair of Vestavia Hills chimed in as well. Topics covered during last year’s event included the state’s education budget, Alabama Accountability Act and Common Core.
The public is invited to attend.
