Boys Tennis Team State House
Alabama Rep. David Faulkner with his son David and Rep. Sam, David and teammate Will Hargrove came to the State House after claiming the title, and the House of Representatives recognized the team during its session.
Mountain Brook High School won its 50th state tennis championship on Tuesday.
The boys varsity team took home the 7A state title at Lagoon Park in Montgomery.
The boys won four of six singles final matches and all three of the doubles matches. Peter Hartman (No. 2), Yates Jackson (No. 3), David Faulkner (No. 4) and Paul Jones (No. 6) won singles championships, and the winning doubles teams were Sam Lidikay and Jackson (No. 1), Hartman and Faulkner (No. 2) and Will Hargrove and Jones (No. 3).
The girls tennis team finished second in the state tournament, coming in four points behind Huntsville. Ellie Polk was the state champion in the No. 4 seed, and Cele Sullivan was the champion in the No. 5 seed. Polk and Sarah Cooper took home the No. 2 doubles championship as well.
Members of the boys team are Sam Lidikay, Warren Lightfoot, Will Hargrove, Yates Jackson, Charlie Cope, David Faulkner, Peter Hartman and Paul Jones. The team is coached by Susan Farlow and Wally Nall.
