Trendon Watford has already made the Alabama team competing in the Southeast All-Freshman Invitational Tournament, but he'll attend the tryouts this weekend anyway.
Get Me Recruited is holding tryouts for the for the elite Southeast All-Freshman Invitational Tournament on Saturday from 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Shades Valley YMCA and Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. at iFIT in Hoover, 1581 Montgomery Highway Suite 115.
Participation in the showcase by prospective players is by invitation only, so local players who will be freshmen next season have a chance to gain an invitation at these tryouts.
Watford, who has transferred from Shades Valley to Mountain Brook, is rated as either the No. 1 or No. 2 player in his class. He is the brother of former Shades Valley and Indiana University star Christian Watford.
Watford, a 6-foot-7 freshman, already holds offers from Alabama, Mississippi State and Florida. As an eighth-grader last year at Shades Valley, he averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Mounties advanced to the Class 6A regional finals. Mountain Brook was Class 7A runner-up.
