MBCC focuses on area attractions

Members of the Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce were treated to five entertaining panelists during their monthly luncheon on Sept. 13. There, representatives from the Birmingham area’s biggest attractions shared what the future holds for local tourism.

Moderated by Rep. Paul DeMarco of Birmingham, the panel consisted of: Frederick Spicer Jr., Executive Director of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens; Darlene A. Negrotto, President and CEO Vulcan Park and Museum; Katrina Cade, Vice President of Marketing and Membership for the Birmingham Zoo; Amy Chauvin, Interim President and CEO of the McWane Science Center; and Jonathan Nelson, General Manager of the Birmingham Barons.

DeMarco asked panelists to discuss current and upcoming projects at their sites, the educational and economic impacts of their attractions and outreach programs and public and private contributions made to each organization.

The sold-out luncheon was co-sponsored by Village Living and the Jimmie Hale Mission. It was held at Park Lane in Mountain Brook and catered by Kathy G & Company.
