Even though the Western Market in Lane Parke doesn't officially open until 9 a.m. Thursday morning, a few guests got the chance to preview Mountain Brook's reopened grocer.

City council members, residents and other guests toured the new store and had the chance to sample some of its homemade spreads, specialty cheeses and meats, sushi made in-store and a selection of wines. The store also sells fresh-cut flowers, O'Henry's Coffee and other items.

Western Market is a 28,300-square-foot store, and plans to open the store were officially announced in October 2013.

“Our goal from the outset has been to create a full-service upscale grocery environment that aligns with the lifestyles of our customers – the new Western Market will allow us to fulfill that goal,” Ken Hubbard, C.E.O./owner of Western, told Village Living when plans were first announced.

The grand opening for Western Market is set for Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. Lane Parke will hold its official grand opening on Oct. 20. Western Market is located in the new Lane Parke development, behind A'mano and Revelator Coffee Company.
