Brookwood Forest ‘decks the hood’ for the Holidays

by

Brookwood Forest has “decked the hood” once again this year, as part of the Off Shoots Garden Club annual tree sale. The 5-foot to 6-foot North Carolina Pines began arriving on streets throughout the Brookwood Forest neighborhood the Friday after Thanksgiving, according to the club’s “Deck the Hood for the Holidays” Facebook Page. The first trees went up on Locksley Drive.

Trees continue to be delivered throughout the neighborhood, and will be staked in the ground according to the buyer’s preferences. From there, buyers are asked to decorate their trees on their front lawns and help “light up the Brookwood Forest area.”

This year, the club sold a total of 243 trees at $35 each, more than double their sales for last year.

Event sale Co-Chair Christina Powell said all proceeds will benefit Brookwood Forest Elementary.

“This is a great opportunity to decorate the neighborhood and get people out and about,” said Powell in a previous interview. “The club is made up of a great group of women in the area that are always trying to do different things for the community.”
