Got talent?

Crestline Rocks organizers are now inviting local music talent to apply to participate in a vote by donation fundraising competition leading up to the event on Sept. 27.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three bands who will perform at the village-wide event.

The first place winner will receive one full day in the recording studio at Mason Music, the second place winner will win an evening gig at Otey’s plus a $100 gift certificate to Taco Mama and the third place winner will receive a $250 Village Gold card.

In Round One, fans will vote on brief YouTube videos from the 15 bands selected by the Crestline Rocks Review Committee from applications and nominations. One dollar equals one vote.

Starting Sept. 2, anyone can vote as often as they like for bands to be in the lineup for the Sept. 27 concert. Each vote you cast is a $1 donation to Preschool Partners, and there is no limit on number of votes during the two-week period. YouTube videos of the bands as well as the voting will be posted on preschool-partners.org. The band with the most votes will perform last in the lineup.

Bands from the vote by donation competition will be followed by live performances from the Hams and Rollin’ in the Hay until the event ends at 10 p.m.

In addition to live music, the all-day, village-wide event presented by Otey’s and Taco Mama will offer Touch-a-Truck for the kids as well as restaurant and store specials around the village.

Event organizers have reduced ticket prices from last year’s $35 in advance and $40 at the door to $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Money raised from the event will support PreSchool Partners, which was founded more than 19 years ago to provide quality preschool education for at-risk children in the Birmingham area.

For updates and announcements leading up to Crestline Rocks on Sept. 27, visit their Facebook page or preschool-partners.org. Crestline rocks is a rain or shine event, and bands will begin playing at noon.

Bands must submit their applications and sample YouTube videos to Allene Neighbors no later than 12 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15.

Email Neighbors at allene.neighbors@gmail.com, call her at 936-3754 or go to preschool-partners.org for details.
