The Mountain Brook Board of Education appointed Donald Clayton principal of Mountain Brook Junior High on Aug 2.

Clayton served as assistant principal last year after the school and before that worked for more than 10 years as a teacher, coach, athletic director and assistant principal at Oak Mountain High School.

During his tenure as assistant principal at Mountain Brook Junior High, Clayton’s areas of responsibility included all academic matters, professional development, Professional Learning Communities and strategic planning. His commitment to quality and emphasis on relationships became apparent to all of us.

“We are confident that Donald, who has been an important part of the leadership team at the junior high, will be able to lead Mountain Brook Junior High as it continues on its course to become an even better school,” Superintendant Dicky Barlow said in an email.

Clayton was appointed interim MBJH principal earlier this summer when former principal Amanda Hood was named MBHS principal.
