Coastal Conversation Association Junior Board to raffle Yeti cooler and kayak

The Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) Junior Board at Mountain Brook High School is holding a fundraiser as a part of Crawfest on Thursday, May 7 at the Birmingham Zoo. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and will feature music by Rollin’ in the Hay.

The organization works to raise awareness of and create interest in preserving marine resources in Alabama, and its junior board is now in its second year.

Last year, the Junior Board raised over $5,000 auctioning a Yeti cooler, and this year, the Junior Board hopes to raise even more by raffling a Yeti cooler and a Jackson Kayak.

In addition to helping to fund marine conservation projects in Alabama's inshore, nearshore and offshore costal waters, the proceeds of the raffle fund a Life Membership, which is given to a current Junior Board member in honor of the late Patrick Fritze. Fritze was an active Life Member of CCA, and this year the proceeds will also be used by the Birmingham Chapter to purchase a concrete reef ball in his honor. The ball will be sunk in Alabama waters in conjunction with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for the public's use.

Members of the Birmingham Chapter of CCA's Junior Board are  Brother Swagler, Camille Jernigan, Deke Marbury, George Eagan, Jacob Carroll, John Eagan, Kirk Thomas, Louis Wade, Parker Crane, Preston Eagan, Reid Carter, Stephen Little, Thomas Skinner, TJ Beard, Andrew Carney, David Gardner, Davis Luttrell, Drew Brown, Drew Smith, Ella Jernigan, Hays Vogtle, James Anderson, Mac Campbell, Maggie Beasley, Malcolm Luttrell, Matthew Parker, McKinnon Cox, Owen Conzelman, Spence Fulmer, Arthur Barnes, Catherine Walthall, Cece Sims, Dean Triantois, Hollon Skinner, Jack Martin, JD Chandler, Manly Luttrell, Marion Dukes, Michael Smith, Thomas McMahon, Turner Beard, Virginia Farrar and Will Statham.
