Crestline students raise support for Team Slade

Student Council reps at Crestline Elementary School held a successful Team Slade event for fellow student Slade Anderson on Jan. 24.

That afternoon and evening, 32 Degrees did nearly $4,000 in sales, enabling the store to donate $671 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

Slade was also able to attend the event with his mom, Emily, and sisters, Elizabeth Claire, 4, and Louise Shelton “Weesie, 2.  He was all smiles greeting friends and enjoying his treat.

Slade, a kindergartner, has been receiving treatment at St. Jude leukemia since he was diagnosed on Nov. 20. Money raised will go to support his treatment at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

Other Crestline businesses have also developed new ways to support Slade.

Sugar Inc. is now selling shirts for Team Slade. The T-shirts are green with a yellow Superman S on the front and "Team Slade" on the back. The T-shirts come in all youth and adult sizes.

All the proceeds go to help Saint Jude’s hospital and Team Slade. The T-shirts are $15 each, cash or check only and can be shipped for a fee.

Taco Mama has also joined raising money for Saint Jude’s cancer research. The restaurant has created a taco combo called “Super Slade Taco.” This combination consists of a beef and cheese taco, Slade’s favorite.

Starting Feb. 1 at Taco Mama, you can now order a “Super Slade” beef and cheese taco, Slade’s favorite. For each taco purchased, Taco Mama, $1 will be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through Feb. 1, 2014.
