Five hit and runs reported in community update
Mountain Brook police reported five hit and runs in the Feb. 4 community update.
On Feb. 3, a vehicle reportedly crashed with another car on Shiloh Drive near Groover Drive, resulting in injuries to the occupant of the second car.
Both offenders in the first vehicle fled the scene on foot. After that incident, a victim was robbed of their vehicle in the 4100 block of Sharpsburg Drive.
Both offenders are in police custody, according to MBPD, and the stolen vehicle has been recovered. No more information can be released at this time, according to police, because this is an ongoing investigation.
Another hit and run was reported on Jan. 29. Around 4:15 p.m., an older white male in a white Cadillac sedan reportedly merged from the center lane into the left lane and struck the victim’s vehicle. The Cadillac did not stop at the scene. The incident occurred on U.S. 280 at Office Park Circle.
On Feb. 1, another incident occurred on U.S. 280 at Office Park Circle. Around 2:45 p.m., an older white pickup struck a black BMW in the rear and knocked the BMW into a white Mini Cooper, according to police. The white pickup then fled the scene.
An unknown vehicle struck a mailbox and speed limit sign in the 100 block of Greenbriar Lane between Feb. 1 and Feb. 2 and then left the scene, according to police. Police reported this incident as a hit and run.
A fifth hit and run occurred on Feb. 2 around 6:45 p.m. The incident occurred on Euclid Avenue at Church Street, when a tan Toyota Avalon changed lanes and was struck in the left rear quarter panel, according to police. The Avalon left the scene.
Police also reported the following crimes in the update:
- A white male reportedly stole steaks from the 3100 block of Overton Road. The incident occurred on Jan. 28, and the man was arrested a short time later at the River Run Piggly Wiggly. He was reportedly preparing to steal steaks from the Piggly Wiggly.
- An individual was arrested during a traffic stop for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. The traffic stop was on Jan. 30 at 2:26 a.m. on Knollwood Drive at Green Valley Road.
- A storage room door in the 2200 block of Peacock Lane was broken into on Jan. 1. Nothing was reported stolen, and police reported this instance as criminal mischief.
