Gardens hosts exhibit to highlight milestones in Civil Rights movement

In partnership with The Birmingham History Center, Birmingham Botanical Gardens is hosting a traveling exhibit titled “1963 – The Year Everything Changed.”

On display from June 10 – June 24 at The Gardens, the free exhibit features seven panels, each highlighting monthly events that shaped Birmingham’s Civil Rights movement. The exhibit also includes two digital media players that feature the milestones of 1963.

The exhibit comes as a loan from Executive Director Jerry Desmond of The Birmingham History Center as part of a special collections partnership with The Archives and Rare Book Room at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

It is located in the main lobby of the Garden Center and open to the public during normal Garden Center hours, Monday – Friday from 8 – 5 p.m. and most weekends.
