Yield sign to be added at Hastings and Overhill

The Hastings-Overhill intersection will soon have a new yield sign.

A group of residents asked that the city look at traffic safety for the intersections of Overhill Road at Hastings Road, Balmoral Road and Laurel Lane at the Nov. 10 council meeting. At the recommendation of Richard Caudle of Skipper Associates, Police Chief Ted Cook said that regardless of the traffic study under consideration a yield sign will be added to the third leg of the intersection of Hastings Road at Overhill Road.

The other intersection under consideration already had three stop signs regulating it. 

The council also authorized a more detailed traffic study on the area to be conducted by Skipper Consulting.

The next council meeting will be Monday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 56 Church Street.
