House party, indecent exposure reported in community update

Mountain Brook police reported several crimes in the July 21 community update, including a house party on Overton Road.

Officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in the 3800 block of Overton Road and found several juveniles who were highly intoxicated, according to the update. Multiple individuals had to be transferred to the hospital, and officers reportedly discovered there had been a party at the home while the owners were out of town.

On July 17, police responded to a report of indecent exposure. A white man in his 40s was reportedly driving a white 2003 Ford Explorer while exposing himself. He was stopped and arrested in the 3400 block of Overton Road.

Police also reported multiple instances of marijuana possession. On July 14, officers pulled over a vehicle on U.S. 280 and impounded the vehicle because the driver’s license was suspended, according to the update. While impounding the vehicle, officers reportedly discovered marijuana. On July 16, police were called to a residence on Faring Road. The homeowner called about a possible burglary in progress and asked that officers search the residence. While doing so, officers found marijuana which belonged to a guest, according to the report.

On July 16, officers reportedly stopped a car on U.S. 280 at Cherokee Road. An occupant in the car was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of a forged instrument after a forged check was found in her possession.

Multiple property thefts were reported in the community update. On July 13, four knives were reported stolen from Cahaba Village Plaza. On July 15, a customer reportedly left a restaurant on Culver Road without paying for their meal. Between Dec. 14, 2014 and July 3, jewelry was reportedly stolen from a residence on Mountain Brook Park Drive. On July 20, three women entered a business at Brookwood Village. The women returned three items for a refund, and those items were suspected to be stolen. Police report the women stole three Yeti cups.

Two burglaries were also reported in the update, and both occurred in the 3800 block of Orleans Road. On July 14, an iPad and prescription drugs were reportedly stolen from a residence that had no signs of forced entry, according to the report. The other burglary occurred between midnight and 5 a.m. on July 19, and a suspect entered a home on Orleans Road and stole prescription medications, according to the update.

Police also reported an instance of fraud/ trafficking in stolen IDs. On July 14, a woman was using stolen or cloned credit cards in the 200 block of Country Club Drive. She was from Chicago, according to the report, and was taken into custody after the cards were verified to be fraudulent. Police obtained a search warrant for her hotel room and found more cloned cards, according to the report.
