Jazz event to celebrate English Village statue

English Village shops are holding a special shopping event this Thursday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the village’s landmark statue, Civitas. Jazz with Civitas will be held Sept. 24 from 5-8 p.m.

The Ray Reach Jazz Trio will play in a tent between NBC Bank and Jordan Alexander Jewelry.

Several shops and restaurants will hold specials and serve refreshments during the event. Tonya Jones SalonSpa, Monkee’s of Mountain Brook and Jordan Alexander will serve wine tastings and hors d’oeuvres. Gallery 1930 will hold an Arthur Price Show, Monkee’s will hold a Camilyn Beth show, Truve will hold store specials, Jordan Alexander Jewelry will have a 10 percent discount and Tonya Jones SalonSpa will offer $25 blowouts and 10 percent off retail. Other village merchants may be participating as well.

Participating merchants will also be donating a percentage of sales to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama.

The merchants of English Village plan to continue holding Jazz with Civitas events on future third Thursdays of the month.
