Mountain Brook author to sign new children's holiday book this weekend

Mountain Brook author Kerry Grinkmeyer will stop at Smith’s Variety in Mountain Brook Village as part of his book signing tour for the book he wrote to help bring the importance of family back to Christmas: The Christmas Web. Grinkmeyer will be at Smith’s from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 as a part of the store’s annual Play Day.

Using inspiration a family tradition that made Christmas morning special for generations of Grinkmeyers, The Christmas Web provides a way for families to not only establish a new holiday tradition but to extend the Christmas morning experience, which often ends within 10 minutes of unwrapping gifts. The pack provides three spools of yarn to create a web at home around window latches, chairs, doors and knobs —ending in a closet or cabinet that hold all Christmas gifts. The web is used as a guideline for locating one’s presents and leads family members in and out of various rooms and spaces as they uncover their gifts.

The Christmas Web also includes a Christmas storybook for children that tells how the Christmas Web came to be.

An award-winning financial advisor, entrepreneur, father and grandfather, Grinkmeyer stepped away from his corporate position to pursue his passion for writing — and the holidays. He sold the financial firm that he lead for 12 years to his kids and is now focusing on The Christmas Web.
