Mountain Brook Municipal Complex phone lines down

Mountain Brook Police Department suffered a lightning strike during this morning’s storms, and most of the Municipal Complex phone lines were temporarily down as of late Tuesday afternoon. The strike caused a power surge and small fire, and repairs have caused a change in the dispatch/ 911 center.

Back-up power sources worked as planned, according to police, but power was disconnected from the dispatch/911 center in order to fix the problems caused by the strike. All 911 calls were  temporarily transferred to Homewood Police Department and then the cell phones of MBPD personnel for dispatch.

Anyone who needs police or fire assistance can still call 911 for help.
