Mountain Brook ranked best suburb to raise a family in Alabama

Mountain Brook has ranked at the top of Niche.com’s list of Best Suburbs to Raise a Family in Alabama.

Vestavia Hills, Helena and Madison came in second, third and fourth places.

To create the list, Niche assessed metrics related to public education, safety, community involvement and access to family necessities. Crime/safety and education were each weighted at 20 percent; access to libraries, community, housing, percentage of residents ages 35-44, and percentage of residents 9 years old and under were each weighted 10 percent; and access to day cares and grocery stores were each weighted at 5 percent.
