It is hard not to notice the blue bows adorning Mountain Brook mailboxes and storefronts in support of Sean Fredella.

The community is joining together in honor of the same young man for SEANstrong Event & Incentive Week. And this time their efforts will benefit even more children who are fighting cancer.

“Everyone in the community was so supportive by purchasing the blue bows, [the Fredella family] wanted to do something for others families that were dealing with this disease,” said Diane Browning, coordinator of the event.

All proceeds from the event will go toward the recently created SEANstrong account. The fund, founded by the Fredella family in Sean’s honor, will financially help other families whose children are battling childhood cancer.

The event will begin with a kick-off party, held at Avo & Dram on April 1.

“It’s a good opportunity for everyone to get together and enjoy one another’s company, great cocktails and good food for a good cause,” said Browning.

Representatives from Children’s of Alabama and Relay for Life will be in attendance to raise awareness and answer any questions from event-goers.

“Relay for Life is very near and dear to Sean,” Browning said. “This is great way for the kids to rally behind their buddy.”

However, the ticket to the party does more than just get you in the door. For the week following the event, ticket holders can present their ticket in various Mountain Brook stores that are partnering with posh Birmingham for the event.

The package will include promotions from the event’s partners. Partners ranging from SmartSkin MedSpa to Mountain Brook Sporting goods are giving away everything from free facials to coupons.

“It’s been so touching and overwhelming to see the community work together for Sean,” Browning said.

Tickets will go on sale soon through and will be also be available at the door. For more information, contact Posh Birmingham at 834-3427.

Sean will also be honored as a honorary crew chief at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama to benefit Children’s.
