Multiple car break-ins reported in area of Mountain Lane

Mountain Brook Police reported four car break-ins in the area of Mountain Lane. The break-ins occurred between Dec. 13 and Dec. 14.

Two unlocked vehicles were entered on Mountain Lane. A purse was taken from one of the cars. A multitool and briefcase were taken from the second car.

The purse and briefcase were found on Dec. 14 near the intersection of Glencoe Drive and Cove Drive, a few minutes from Mountain Lane.

In the 100 block of Richmar Drive, a street adjacent to Mountain Lane, someone entered two unlocked cars and took several items.

On another adjacent street, Hillsdale Road, an unlocked car was entered while parked in a driveway. The suspect used the garage door opener in the car to enter the garage. They then stole a purse and its contents out of a car in the garage. This incident was categorized as a burglary and car break-in, according to the community update.

A fifth car break-in was reported in the 3800 block of Arundel Drive on Dec. 11. Camera equipment and other items were taken from an unlocked vehicle during the break-in.

Other car-related crimes included a car theft and the unauthorized use of a vehicle. A car left running in the driveway of a residence on Little River Road was stolen on Dec. 15. Also on Dec. 15, an employee in the 1000 block of Lane Parke Court reportedly took a vehicle without permission and had not returned.

Someone also reported an instance of identity theft. The victim reported between Dec. 14 and Dec. 15, someone accessed their checking account and made unauthorized purchases.

Police also included an update about a recent burglary in the report. On Dec. 3, a suspect forced entry into a home in the 2700 block of Cherokee Road. The suspect stole a safe and guitars. Police report the suspect fled to Colorado, and warrants have been obtained for the suspect.
