The Overton Road intersection with U.S. 280 will be closed for approximately nine days starting Friday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m.

According to a release from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), this closure will prohibit the following movements during the construction process:

Single lane closures on U.S. 280 near the intersection will begin around 7 p.m. nightly during this time, and double lane closures will begin around 8 p.m.

ADLOT is encouraging drivers that normally travel Overton Road to access U.S. 280 to follow the posted detour route to access the highway at an alternate location.

According to ALDOT, U-turns are prohibited at the intersections of Rocky Ridge Road and Greenvalley Road. Instead of taking a U-Turn at Overton, ALDOT suggests using the Pumphouse Road interchange as an alternate route.

The release also stated that ALDOT wished to thank motorists for their patience during this construction to improve Alabama’s roadways.
