Police report trespassing incident in community update

An individual reportedly rang the doorbell while trying to open the front door of a Cherokee Road home, according to a Mountain Brook Police Department community update.

On May 6, police report a white male went up to a home in the 2700 block of Cherokee Road and rang the doorbell while trying to open the front door. After getting no response, police report he went around the back of the home and looked through the window. After seeing the occupant of the home, the male reportedly fled.

The male was described as 35-45 years of age and driving an older red sports car with a black top.

Two burglaries were also reported in the update. On May 9, a business in the 2600 block of Lane Park Road was burglarized and multiple items were stolen. On May 11, a residence in the 3700 block of Dunbarton Drive was entered through the back door, possibly through the dog door, according to the report. Electronics were stolen from the home.

There were also two property thefts reported. One occurred between May 6 and May 7, and a license place was taken off a vehicle in the 2300 block of Chester Road. The other theft reportedly occurred between May 2 and May 8, and medication was reportedly stolen from a residence on Kingshill Road.

On May 7, a Toyota Land Cruiser was stolen from a driveway on Ridgeview Drive. The keys were in the ignition of the car, and the suspects reportedly dumped a vehicle and trailer that were stolen in Birmingham earlier that day.

Another victim reported on May 6 that a check she mailed had been evidently intercepted, changed and then cashed. The victim also reported she discovered forged checks from the same account had been produced and one of them had been cashed. The incident was reported as possession of a forged instrument in the community update.
