The women were reportedly involved in two property thefts on Aug. 17, according to the Aug. 18 Mountain Brook Police Department community update.

Aug. 17 at 3:50 p.m. two heavyset black women reportedly entered a shop on Culver Road, picked out several items and brought them to the counter to purchase. As the clerk was ringing up the items, one of the women reportedly entered the store’s back room. The clerk then checked and found her wallet had been removed from her purse.

About 30 minutes earlier, the two women reportedly went into another store on Montevallo Road, used the same technique and stole credit cards and a license from employees' purses.
