Public hearing to consider Vine Street revitalization

The City of Mountain Brook is looking to revitalize Crestline’s Vine Street with mix-use retail and residential buildings.

City Council has scheduled a public hearing to discuss the amending the City Code to add a Vine Street Transitional (VST) zoning district. The hearing will be held Monday, July 8 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the new Municipal Complex.

VST would transition the area to host compact and appropriate-scaled buildings along the west side of Vine Street for detached single family homes, townhomes, offices and mixed use buildings with residential areas located above offices.

Buildings would have a maximum height of 36 feet

The City’s plan provides pedestrian connectivity within Crestline Village to increase business patronage and accessibility of the village.

To reach a goal of shaping the character and streetscape, the plan also works to polish lot frontages, orientation, location and façade design of the buildings along the street. The City intends for this to make the area more compatible with the neighboring business and other residential areas and recreation districts around Mountain Brook.
