Drop trees off at zoo for recycling

The Mountain Brook Tree Commission and the Birmingham Zoo are partnering for the 6th annual Christmas tree recycling event.

Residents are encouraged to drop their trees off at the zoo’s picnic area next to the parking lot during normal business hours from Dec. 26-Jan. 6.

Only “clean” trees, free of decorations and wire, can be processed by the chipper. Garland, wreaths and other small debris must be hauled away as trash. Organizers ask that residents help the volunteers and help prevent damage to machinery by removing foreign objects before bringing your tree.
