Red-billed hornbill missing from Birmingham Zoo

The Birmingham Zoo is asking for the community’s help in locating a red-billed hornbill that went missing on Wednesday, Jan. 6 around 10 a.m. The bird stayed on Zoo property and within the sight of zoo staff throughout the day, according to a Birmingham Zoo news release.

The search had to be postponed on Wednesday due to a lack of light and resumed Thursday morning to no avail.

The Zoo is asking the community to be on the lookout for the bird in the Homewood and Mountain Brook area.

If you see the missing bird, you are asked to call the Birmingham Zoo at 205.879.0409 so that zoo keepers can respond.
