Rep. Faulkner receives BCA’s Business Champion Award
The Business Council of Alabama, along with the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama and the Birmingham Business Alliance, recently recognized state Rep. David L. Faulkner for what they called his “commitment to improve Alabama’s legal and manufacturing environments.”
On Friday, Dec. 4, the groups presented Faulkner, R-Mountain Brook, with the Business Champion Award during the annual BCA meeting.
According to a BCA news release, Faulkner “championed and improved” legislation to restore Alabama’s “long-standing product-liability law and put the state in line with the majority of states that rejected the novel theory of innovator liability.” The theory, according to the release, held that a manufacturer can be liable for a product that is neither made nor sold.
“Representative Faulkner showed an unwavering commitment to improve the legal climate that, in turn, improves Alabama’s manufacturing climate to the benefit of its citizens,” BCA President and CEO William J. Canary said according to the release.
The award is presented to legislators who show support of policies that “better Alabama’s business climate and the lives of employees, families, and citizens.
"I was thrilled to receive this award from the Business Council of Alabama (BCA) recognizing my work in support of business in my first year in the Legislature this year,” said Faulkner in an email. “I am a pro-business, Christian conservative who believes less regulation and a smaller government is better for maintaining and attracting businesses in and to this State. It is businesses that provide people with jobs, and I want our government to not hinder businesses being successful and helping to grow our economy.”
In his email, Faulkner went on to say that the BCA is “strongly committed” to improving education in Alabama, particularly at the Pre-K and K-12 level.
“I have a great passion and belief that the education of our children, particularly at the earliest stages, is the key way for us to improve our state,” said Faulkner. “I am committed to the Pre-K initiatives going on in Alabama that have been a model for the nation, and the BCA has been instrumental in this endeavor through its Business Education Alliance."
