Mountain Brook residents wanting to move around this weekend are asked to plan ahead when driving Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday Oct. 31. Vehicular traffic on Church Street will likely be “significantly impacted” from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Friday and from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday due to the Homecoming and Halloween parades scheduled on each day.

The city will install fencing along Church Street beginning at approximately 2 p.m. on both days, according to a release shared by the Mountain Brook Fire Department. Fencing will be placed along the edge of the roadway beginning at Jackson Blvd. and extending to Dexter Ave. Once the fencing is in place, all vehicles parked in the areas mentioned above will be blocked in until the parades end.

According to the release, the Homecoming Parade will begin at Mountain Brook Baptist Church at approximately 2:30 p.m. Friday. At that time, all traffic will be blocked from entering Crestline Village until the parade wraps up.

Traffic will once again be blocked from entering Crestline Village Saturday at approximately 3:45 p.m. for the Mystics of Mountain Brook parade.

Church Street will remain closed following the conclusion of both parades until all the fencing can be removed. Vehicles will be allowed to travel on both Vine and Oak Streets as detours. Residents who live on Montevallo Rd. and who use the alley by the Tot Lot to access their driveways will also be prevented from doing so throughout the entirety of the parades.

The following roads in and around Crestline Village, according to the release, will be affected:
