Armed robbery reported at Another Broken Egg

by

A robbery occurred at Another Broken Egg off Montevallo Road Monday at 3:50 p.m., according to a Mountain Brook Police Department community alert.

Two unknown suspects were armed with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. Both suspects were described as 20-30 year old black males around 6 feet tall and in all black clothing. One had close-cropped hair, facial hair and a bandana on his face. The other was wearing a ski mask.

A citizen comment on the police department’s Facebook page said the suspects sounded similar to suspects that robbed Miss Myra’s BBQ in Cahaba Heights. Lt. Jay Williams of Mountain Brook Police Department Detective Division said there is no known connection between the robberies at this time.

“It’s really early in it to have an opinion on it one way or another,” Williams said.

The suspects left Another Broken Egg with an undisclosed amount of money. No description of the suspects’ vehicle is known at this time.

Williams said although there is not much that can be done by individuals to protect against this sort of robbery, it is helpful if community members report suspicious activity. If someone sees a person putting on a ski mask or bandana before entering a building, they should notify police, Williams said.

“Of course you would hope that they would call,” Williams said. “In fact, in the past we’ve solved robberies because citizens saw that happening and called us.”
