Construction for the last phases of the Safe-Routes-To-Schools sidewalk project near Crestline and Mountain Brook Elementary Schools is scheduled to begin after Labor Day.

Sidewalks will be constructed along Vine Street, extending from the Crestline Field to Dexter Avenue, and along West Montcrest Drive, spreading from Euclid Avenue to 20 West Montcrest Drive.

Another area of Crestline Village will also have new sidewalks along Canterbury Road near Mountain Brook Elementary School, stretching from Canterbury Park to Mountain Brook Village. Sidewalks will also be built to stretch along Overhill Road from Montevallo Road to Watkins Road, and across Watkins Road, trailing from Overhill Road to Cahaba Road.

Pedestrian crossing signals will also be installed at Montevallo Road and Overhill Road.

The project, led by Walker-Patton Company, is completely federally funded and is the first project of its kind that received a grant in Alabama.
