Six thefts, two residential burglaries reported in community update

Mountain Brook Police reported six thefts, two car break-ins and two residential burglaries in this week’s community update.

Both cars involved the car break-ins were unlocked. One car was in the 100 block of Crestview Circle, and a purse and some cash was taken between Sept. 8 and Sept. 9. Another car was in the 3300 block of Country Club Road. Credit cards were stolen from the vehicle.

Entry was forced at both residences in the burglaries, and both occurred on Sept. 9.

One burglary occurred in the 3900 block of Montclair Road between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and a neighbor reported hearing a loud noise around 10 a.m. Unknown offenders stole electronics from the residence.

Another burglary occurred in the 100 block of Glencoe Circle between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The offenders broke a window to enter the residence and stole silverware and jewelry.

Between Sept. 3 and Sept. 8, jewelry was reportedly stolen from a residence in the in the 3600 block of Locksley Drive.

Between July 26 and Sept. 5, a theft occurred in the 200 block of Beech Street. Numerous fraudulent purchases were made with a victim’s credit card and bank account information.

An unknown suspect or suspects stole $1,400 from a business in the 3100 block of Cahaba Village Plaza on Sept. 5.

On Sept. 6, several bottles of wine were stolen in the 3100 block of Cahaba Village Plaza. A white female and white male suspect did not pay for their food at a restaurant in the 2800 block of Cahaba Road, also on Sept. 6.

One woman reported driving off with her phone on her vehicle and losing it on Sept. 7. After tracking her phone, it was found at a residence in another city. A Mountain Brook PD officer questioned a suspect at the residence and was able to recover the phone. Charges are pending in the case.

Police also reported the arrest of Vanessa Hirschowitz, 47. Hirschowitz was charged with attempted murder, third degree domestic violence and resisting arrest after striking an officer with a bayonet.
