Smith’s Variety isn’t letting the stress of a big move get in the way of welcoming the holiday season. Both the old location, in Mountain Brook Village, and the new store at 45 Church Street in Crestline will host events Thursday, Nov. 12 for holiday shoppers.

The Mountain Brook Village location will hold a Rosalina tent sale, featuring the signature smocked dresses, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The Crestline location, soon to be the permanent and only home of Smith’s, will host a Holiday Open House from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

The new store held its soft-opening Monday, Nov. 9.

Though slightly smaller than its current space in Mountain Brook Village, the store appears larger, said store owner Tammie Glazner when she gave Village Living a tour of the space, in part, because of its 12-foot ceilings.

At its new location, now in part of the space previously occupied by CVS/Pharmacy at 49 Church St., Smith’s will be neighbors with the Piggly Wiggly expected to open in early 2016. The rest of the former CVS space, soon-to-be the home of Sawtooth Cookhouse, is currently under construction.

“We are excited to move into our new home,” said Glazner.

Items that did not sell well or that will not be offered at the new store, will be sold at discounted prices at the Mountain Brook Village location. Glazner said the old store will remain open for a few more weeks.

On Thursday, Nov. 19, Smith’s will join the Crestline Village Holiday Open House.
