Thefts, burglaries reported in MBPD community update

A man who previously took stole shirts from a store at Brookwood Village has returned and shoplifted again, according to Mountain Brook Police Department. The man previously shoplifted on Oct. 28 and returned on Nov. 6, taking two more shirts, according to the Nov. 10 community update.

Another theft occurred between Oct. 7 and Nov. 6, when a watch was stolen from a home on Ryecroft Road. The home is under renovation, according to the report.

Two burglaries were reported in the update, including one at a residence on Fairmont Drive. On Nov. 3, an unsecured home was entered, and electronics and credit card information were reportedly taken. The card information was later used to make purchases, according to police.

The second burglary occurred between Nov. 1 and 4 at a home on Arundel Drive. This home was also not secured, and jewelry was stolen.

At two separate instances last week, individuals presented forged checks and attempted to cash them, according to police. On Nov. 3, someone tried to cash two forged checks in the 2400 block of Canterbury Road. On Nov. 4, an individual was arrested after trying to cash a forged check in the 90 block of Euclid Avenue.

Police also reported two hit and runs, one off of U.S. 280 and one on Oak Street. An off duty trooper reportedly saw the incident on U.S. 280 and followed the suspect until they were stopped by police. In the other hit and run, two cars collided when backing out and one left the scene.
